The apartment known as Peninsula Heights is located on the seventh floor of a high-rise in the J.P. Nagar neighbourhood of Bangalore. The apartment is a great example of the virtues of trust, patience and resilience. Bangalore-based Studio Ruh was entrusted with the design of the 3,800 sq-ft- apartment from scratch and did an excellent job of turning every challenge on its head.
The apartment was a dream come true for the family of four that includes the parents, their son. It came with four bedrooms and bathrooms, a powder room, home theatre and kitchen. The only thing that was left to do was to make it into a contemporary home filled with warm and rich details, which is exactly what Studio Ruh did. Kavya Sheth, the founder and creative director of Studio Ruh, was the one in charge of the project and she loved that it was a blank slate.
The home’s design is inspired by the artful curation of materials and nuanced textures to create a sensorial narrative. With handpicked choices of marbles and veneers laced across the abode and furniture sourced from ateliers in Italy, Peninsula Heights celebrates a neutral volume interjected with tasteful accents of hues and verdure indoors. Colour is the undeniable protagonist in the quaint foyer that preludes the communal spaces. The classic black and white marble floor is given a modern touch with a crimson-bodied wood console against ivory wainscoted walls. The custom doors are stained a deep navy, and the antique brass hardware adds a touch of elegance to the space. The living room and dining room spaces are designed to be versatile and accommodating for all kinds of activities. The subdued colors and tones are meant to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with pops of color in the form of greenery, curios, and prints. The furniture is carefully curated to create a comfortable and inviting space, with a tall palm tree adding to the room's overall aesthetic. The space is given depth and dimension by the dark umber wall panels that make the living area feel warm and inviting. The massive console in the foreground is practically part of the wood-toned background because of its similar color. The wall panels continue into the walkway and the luxurious marble floors have been dotted with embedded spotlights that give the space a soft, ambient light as evening approaches.
Seamed together as a homage to soft hues and robust textures, the master suite is a conglomerate of fine Italian furniture and a symphony of neutrals. The slatted solid wood panelling infuses the bedroom with a sense of tactility and additional dimension.
At Peninsula Heights, the design team has focused on creating a simple and tranquil space for residents to come home to after a long day. By using restraint in their decoration and design, they've been able to create an oasis for our residents to relax in.
